“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”— Psalm 107:1 (NIV)

DEVOTION
Sometimes we become so focused on what we are still waiting for that we forget to notice what God has already given us.
We think about the prayer that hasn’t been answered.
The dream that hasn’t happened.
The situation that hasn’t changed.
The door we are still waiting to see open.
And while we are looking at what is missing, we can overlook the blessings already in our hands.
Gratitude helps us see differently.
It doesn’t mean pretending that everything is perfect.
It doesn’t mean ignoring the things that hurt.
It simply means choosing to recognize God’s goodness even while some things remain unfinished.
You can be disappointed and still be thankful.
You can be waiting and still be thankful.
You can have unanswered questions and still find reasons to praise God.
Maybe today your blessing is something simple.
Another morning.
A person who loves you.
A place to rest.
A meal on your table.
A Bible you can open.
A prayer you can still pray.
A new opportunity to begin again.
Sometimes the greatest blessings are the things we have become so accustomed to that we no longer notice them.
Gratitude changes our attention.
Instead of constantly asking, “What do I still need?” we begin asking, “What has God already done?”
And when we remember His faithfulness, our hearts become more aware of His presence in the ordinary moments of life.
You may not have everything you want today.
But there is still something to thank God for.
Take a moment to look around.
Look back.
Remember.God has been good to you in more ways than you may realize.
Let gratitude become more than something you say.Let it become a way of seeing your life.
TODAY’S TRUTH
I may not have everything I am waiting for, but I can always find reasons to be grateful for God’s goodness.
REFLECTIION
- What are three things you can thank God for today?
- How might your heart change if you began noticing God’s blessings in the ordinary moments of your life?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for the times I have focused so much on what I do not have that I have forgotten to thank You for what You have already given me.
Open my eyes to the blessings around me.
Thank You for the simple things I sometimes take for granted. Thank You for every provision, every opportunity, every person, and every moment that reminds me of Your goodness.
Even when some prayers remain unanswered, help me remember that You are still faithful.
Teach me to have a grateful heart—not only when life goes the way I want, but in every season.
Help me notice Your goodness in the ordinary and give You thanks for it.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
